"With every hot droplet of molten tar, he grows. He takes what he pleases and does all he can to assume control. He is a monster of your own making, residing in the cavern of your chest. He wants you to keep puffing. He needs you.
But you don't need him."
This was a really fun piece to put together! As I was looking through the entries, I didn't see too many giants, so I figured I could include a giant relative the scale of one's own health. At the same time, I didn't want to be so overt in my depiction - I wanted the realization of the 'giant threat' to come from an understanding of how the giant came to be.
It was very challenging for me to depict a growing monster inside of lungs, but still establish a giant-sized scale. Tar is a very unique liquid, very opaque and dark. Couple that with an interior setting, and you have an awkward lighting situation. It was a wonderful exercise!
For personal reasons, this was very important to see to completion. Watching this "giant" come to command someone's mind is fearsome indeed.
Thanks for looking!
P.S. The original of this is 6800x4400. Let me know if any of you are interested in a print!
